1. Noodle King

Known for its delicious dried handmade noodles, Noodle King offers fast service in a relaxed atmosphere. The pan-fried green onion pancakes here are a must! Based on Sussex Street, you can eat here seven days a week from 11.00am until midnight.

2. Marigold

Marigold serves a classic Chinese menu; their shrimp dumplings and crispy spring rolls are particularly good. If you’re feeling exceptionally brave you can even try the chicken feet, which have become something of a classic! You can find this Yum Cha paradise on George Street. Opening times are 10am to 3pm and 5:30pm to 10pm, Monday to Sunday.

3. Golden Century

Seafood lovers won’t want to miss out on Golden Century, which can be found on Sussex Street. One of Chinatown’s most popular restaurants, it’s a firm favourite due to its excellent menu and late opening hours – you can eat here until 4.00am, seven nights a week! The salt and pepper tofu comes highly recommended, and the lobster with ginger is a classic.

4. Din Tai Fung

Din Tai Fung prides itself on offering the best dumplings in Chinatown, and has been so successful that it now has a total of four outlets across the city! While some people have accused the chain of “selling out,” their dumplings are so superb that it makes absolute sense for them to capitalise on what they blatantly do so well. You can find the original restaurant here on George Street, open 11.30am to 2.00pm and 5.30pm to 9.00pm daily.

5. East Ocean

For delicious Yum Cha in a bright and modern setting, it’s hard to beat East Ocean, which is located on Sussex Street. It offers an excellent selection of dim sums and some of Chinatown’s most delicious Peking Duck pancakes. A great option for late night diners, with a “moonlight menu” available from 9.00pm, seven nights a week.

6. Emperor’s Garden

Head to Emperor’s Garden on Hay Street if you’re looking for traditional Cantonese fare at very reasonable prices. A firm local favourite with a loyal clientele, the restaurant’s a la carte menu is one of the best in Chinatown. Ideal for those who don’t stick to regular meal schedules, as it’s open from 6.30am until 1.30am, Monday to Sunday!

7. Golden Harbour

Famed for its Yum Cha and fresh seafood, the Golden Harbour offers low prices, based on market price, and a relaxed atmosphere. Seafood lovers will find the restaurant’s speciality, crab noodles, hard to resist. Located on Dixon Street, the Golden Harbour is open for lunch from 10.30am to 4.00pm and dinner 5.00pm to 11.00pm, seven days a week.
